Overview

Our vision is to become a missional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of people in Jesus’ name. Reporting to the Camps Director (or designate), this position supports that vision by helping create a safe, engaging, and memorable summer camp experience for children and families in our community.

Operating mainly out of our Ajax site, our camp positions are full-time summer contracts.

Due to funding restrictions from Canada Summer Jobs, applicants are required to be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons between the ages of 15 - 30. International students, — including those on a work permit or student visa — are not eligible.

In addition to working on-site in Ajax, successful candidates will also be required to travel to our Port Perry location for camp one week during the summer.

DIRECTORS:
Under the supervision of the Sanctus camps staff team, our Camp Directors help organize and lead our summer camps, managing the camp counsellor team as well as the day-to-day operations of the camps. Their main goal is to run a program that maintains a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for community children so they will have a meaningful summer camp experience. The rate of pay is $20/hour. This role starts in late May/early June and runs until the end of August.

COUNSELLORS:
In collaboration with their camp director and the Sanctus camps staff team, summer camp counsellors will manage day-to-day camp operations; providing safe, welcoming, meaningful, and fun environment for community kids as well as regular feedback to campers' parents. The rate of pay is $19/hour. This role starts in late June and runs until the end of August.

  • To be available for working on-site at the camp locations (Ajax and Port Perry) on camp dates
Responsibilities

DIRECTORS:

  • Help organize and oversee our summer camps, providing leadership and training to the camp counsellors while overseeing daily operations.
  • They will also monitor the counsellors' performance and offer regular feedback and coaching to ensure campers are having a positive camp experience.
  • In collaboration with the staff team, they will also be responsible for training and schedule the camp serve teams.

COUNSELLORS:

  • Assist in the operation of a fun, safe, welcoming summer camp for all campers
  • Prepare and run daily activities for camper groups
  • Share feedback or issues as needed with Directors

Both Directors and Counsellors will assist in supervising Sunday kids programming and summer community outreach events as needed.

Education and Experience

DIRECTORS:

  • Experience working at or leading a summer camp or similar kids program is helpful
  • Experience working collaboratively with peers

COUNSELLORS:

  • Experience working at a summer camp or kids program is helpful
