Sanctus Church’s vision is to become a missional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of people in Jesus' name. The following staff position is critical in helping Sanctus execute on the fulfillment of that vision.
The Port Perry Pastoral Intern will be a supporting leader ensuring the execution of Sunday services and weekday ministries with excellence and in alignment with Sanctus mission, vision, and values at the Port Perry site. The successful candidate will work for 20 hours/week Sunday-Thursday and report directly to the Port Perry Site Pastor. Both evening and weekend work is required as well as holidays such as Easter and Christmas Eve. Work is conducted from the Port Perry site on Sundays and Thursdays, and from the Ajax office on Wednesdays, with flexibility for at-home work. Travel may be required to other Sanctus sites when necessary.

- Help support the Port Perry Site Pastor with local ministry.
- Ensure weekly in-person services and ministries initiatives are executed in alignment
with the values of Sanctus.- Support and assist volunteer teams and site-specific needs staff.
- Coordinate planning, scheduling and execution of multiple areas of ministry.
- Assist in leadership for the local community in case Site Pastor is not present
on-site. - Support Site Pastor and local leaders with the goal of championing the Sanctus
experience at Sanctus Port Perry site, providing excellence at all spaces and
rooms available.
- Be mentored and trained by Site Pastor on different pastoral duties: i) engagement and
development with volunteers of Leadership Core Team; ii) pastoral care for local
congregants; iii) next steps and discipleship process for site community. - Oversee Communications strategy at the local level in alignment with Communications
Coordinator’s direction and guidelines. - Provide local leadership and execution of Connect Groups strategy in alignment with
Connect Small strategy. - Champion Alpha locally, help it to thrive, contextualize it and ensure regular
involvement. - Work closely with the Executive Site Pastor on ad-hoc pastoral projects.
- Work closely and collaboratively with Site Pastors team on the major initiators and
yearly strategic goals. - Work closely and collaboratively with Sites Team and all Sanctus staff on church-wide
events (e.g. Worship Nights, Palm Saturday and Sanctus Conference).
- University or seminary degree (complete or in progress) desired
- The following are beneficial and strongly preferred:
- 3+ years experience in pastoral role
- familiarity with Sanctus Church
- Personal experience with alpha is an asset
- Experience working in multi-site, larger church contexts
- Work experience in fast paced, high caliber team environment
- Able to provide a minimum of 3 character and work related references
